You just added 100-150 ELO to your program the easy way.

For the Intel compiler, I have a lot of switches that I like for AMD.
For MS VC++, I recommend these are a starting set:
/G6 /Gr /ML /W4 /O2 /Ob0 /Gs /GA /GF /c

Then do some experimentation.
