What I call the "standard version" is basically the Fritz 7 GUI with a different
engine.

The "classic" version is SMK's own Shredder GUI, which seems to borrow a lot
from the Chessbase GUI, but with a few extra features. The most interesting
feature is the "Endgame Oracle", which analyses a position from endgame
tablebases with wildcards, for instance in KPK "bk h8, wp h2, wk anywhere"... or
of course, every piece in the database could be a wildcard. There's an
interesting feature that if only one of the pieces in the egtb is a wildcard,
the number of moves to mate is displayed on each empty square of the chessboard
itself. The only description I've seen of this feature online is in German
(sorry) at http://www.chessbase.de/katalog/product.asp?pid=132

The only other unique feature of the Shredder interface is the "Triple Brain".
Using this feature two engines analyse a position in parallel, and a third
meta-engine decides which of the two engines is "right".

Oh, and Shredder 6 supports the UCI protocol.
