Dr. Ponti Lopes, Following is a appraisal by Mr. Walker. For endgames requiring massive tablebases the SCSI or Ultra SCSI drives would speed up endgame play but would have little effect on middlegame play. Get the faster drive but remember that if your drive craps out it is cheaper to replace the EIDE type drives than the SCSI. If your hard drive is too fast then you will also need a fan to cool it. Faster drives probably have a higher failure rate than slower drives. Just a guess. As a neurologist you have learned to be patient. Tim Posted by James T.
