Yes as with All chess engine, CM also does play better in faster hardware, and
its much more fun. I used to run my gandalf4.32h on a very slow pentium 400mhz
(or somthing like that), I was very dissapointed, then I upgraded to a Celeron
600mhz reasonably better than before, but gandalf still didnt seem good enough.
Now running on a Pentium III 1 ghz I can see reasnobale improve in gandalfs
strength. Just think how better it would perform on Athlon XP 2000+ ?

Even though Pentium 4 1.7 is very fast but not the best buy for its price, you
can get a faster processor with less or same price, which are the Athlon XPs.
CHess programs also seem to play better on Athlon procesors.

Even though i dont have one yet but I am planning to get one very soon.

have fun!

ps, by the way, how much rating does CM get in your computer? I think the rating
of CM (according to the GUI) fluctuates in differant processors.
