Follow Dan's advice, its a good one. Don't think about the Pentium IV (unless Intel releases one at 5GHz at 200 dollars). When the first specs for the PIV appeared on the web I red that the PIV has the integer processing units running at 2x, so if you have a PIV at 2GHz then those units run at 4GHz. I thought at the time this was the best thing that could happen to computer chess and that AMD was finished unless it would come up with something similar. Turns out that I was wrong and the PIV is very slow in integer processing and so a donkey at playing chess (and checkers). Best regards, Alvaro Cardoso
