... please elaborate ... I don't think that any other DOS program comes
close to Rebel 9 as far as features and usability are concerned. I don't
think that calling Rebel 9 'crappy' could be justified. It's a very high
quality tool for serious chess players.

All facts tell me that probably M-Chess doesn't have a higher ELO
(whatever you're talking about here) than Rebel (rather the opposite by
some small margin might be true).

Still I agree that M-Chess is a good choice for budget restricted DOS
chess program customers. But then, they could get Rebel 9 Light (disk
version) for the same price as M-Chess. I own both of them (MCP 7 and R9
CD version) and am quite delighted with them. Oh, well: Rebel 9 comes
with tons of chess material on CD ROM, including a 100000+ master games
database and opening books.
