Sorry to disagree. But when reading the benchmarks closely. It is apparent that the new P4 and the XP 2000+ are roughly equivalent in overall performance. And that is a pretty good indicator that the chesswise comparison is still pretty favourable to the Athlon. You must remember that Crafty ran almost 50% faster on the top of the line Athlon before this new iteration of the P4. That won't go away by a 10% hike in processor speed, and maybe 8% due to a larger cache. But the speed ramp of the P4 family might do it. MvH Dan Andersson
