I took it as just another piece of information to work with. From what I have observed over the past few months, it seems that some folks take the list very seriously. I guess some think no one buys chess programs before they are rated on the SSDF list, or unless it is number one on the SSDF list. I think that kind of thinking is nonsense. Everyone that I know of bought Fritz 5 for example long before it showed up on the SSDF list. The most important selling point was the good word of mouth the program received. The same could be said for other programs that don’t show up on the list or rank lower then number one on the SSDF list. The bottom line is if the program has something good to offer people, people will buy it, regardless of the SSDF list.
