http://chess.jaet.org/endings/ has info on file re the DTM(ate) and
DTC(onversion).

DTM > 50 does not of course imply DTC > 50, and DTC > 50 does not always imply
that some phase is > 50 moves, e.g. in KNNKP or KQPKQ.

DTR EGTs, to "Depth By the (k-move) Rule", are eminently computable for up to
5-man EGs ... as I have explained in ICGA v24.3 (Sept 2001), correcting a bug or
two in my first note on this subject (ICGA v23.1, March 2000).

Sadly, DTR EGTs are not as easy to compute as DTC, DTM or DTZ (Depth to
move-count zeroing move) EGTs, which are all equally easy to compute by the
Wu/Beal algorithm, so 6-man DTR EGTs are some way off.

If you have a position with DTZ > 50, it is highly likely that two infallible
players, armed with DTC or DTM rather than DTZ EGTs, will create a game-phase
longer than 50 moves ... but remember that it is up to one of the engines to
_claim_ that this is a draw. It is not a draw just by virtue of occurring.

For those interested in extreme positions, there are obviously positions with
DTZ = 50 where the attacker will not minimise DTZ by minimising DTC or DTM.
Less obviously, there are positions where the attacker will incur a needless
50-move draw-claim in the 2nd phase by minimising DTZ.
