- I have had some concerns about the playing strength of the new Fritz 7 engine in comparison to Fritz 6e or Deep Fritz. BUT....................... Here is a sample Fritz 7 win against Grandmaster Mark Hebden (FIDE 2558)played on ICC on 1/10/02 at a 5/12 time control. In my opinion, this game was quite impressive. I used Fritz 7 under the computer sign on Deep-Katzparov. I was only using a Hewlett Packard 8370 Pavilion, 350 MHz Pentium II, 384 SDRAM (upgraded from 64 SDRAM) on the Windows 98 operating system. I had Fritz 7 set at the time control of 5/10, with the hash tables set at 32MB (which may be too high for the time control). I had to manually transfer all moves. Perhaps some of you out there will appreciate the strength of these programs. When these programs lose a given game to some other program, we tend to forget just how strong they really are. This game was only played using a 350 MHz!! Hope you enjoy it.
