If you have plenty of RAM modules and enough memory in the PC you can try the
following:

Just remove one memory module at a time and check if your PC starts to behave
normally. If it do not help, put it back in and try to remove another of the
mem. modules.

(If it is a pretty new PC I would bring it back to wherever it came from and
demand a repair or my money back!)

There is one easy way to get Win2K out of wack: Bad device drivers.
