Let's talk Chessmaster8000 - I was very much surprised how eager _several_ people were to be able to use the "The King" engine in their Fritz although it definitely is _very_ complicated to plug in even with the great explanations by Odd Gunnar Malin. In German computerchess lover circles it was a huge success and has boosted Chessmaster sales ( don't get me wrong : not in the whole , only in this environment). Even people who wouldn't bother with WinBoard.ini's gave it a shot and I was very much surprised how many succeeded. That's with the ChessBase WinBoard adapter for sure! I don't know what to make out of this but one interesting fact is that my default Fritz 7 engine is "The King 3.12d", so it seems I am infected, too :-)). People who complain about the adapter are right when it is about engine-engine matches - but for analysis purposes the adapter does a quite decent job IMHO and for analysis the ChessBase interface is the best one I know.
