Its a matter of taking the time to do it. chessmaster, rebeltiger, chessAssistant, shredder, and probably others support very good and nearly perfect winboard protocol or adapter. they are also top chess software company. If you are good enough, what is there to be afraid off? I thing chessbase knows it very well that none of the free winboard engine are yet comparable to their top programs. I guess they are just too bored. ;) pavs
