Subject: Why does Fritz 7 lose tournaments to Fritz 6e and Deep Fritz?

Here is a sample Round Robin engine tournament played at game 5 minutes without
any increments. Hash Tables set at 16 MB. Permanent Brain was turned off. 350
MHz Pent II.

FRITZ 6e ******	100.51.5	.51.5111 8.0 / 12
DEEP FRITZ 011.50.5 ****** 0.51.51.5 6.5 / 12
FRITZ 7 .50.5000	1.50.50.5 ****** 3.5 / 12

Fritz 6e and Deep Fritz used the Deep Fritz opening book and Fritz 7 used it's
own opening book.
I am not very pleased with the results that Fritz 7 has been getting.
In many engine tournaments that I have run, Fritz 7 has not been faring too
well.
The Fritz 7 engine I have shows version 7,0,0,2 from the window when right
clicking onto the engine from the engine folder, and clicking the version tab in
the mentioned window.
Version 7,0,02 is the version that came on the Fritz 7 CD.
I also received the on line upgrade offered by Chessbase from the Playchess
Server.
Does the upgrade affect the Fritz 7 engine at all, or does it only make changes
to the interface?
I have a Fritz 7 version 7,0,0,1 engine that was given to me. I'll then
uninstall the Fritz 7 program and reinstall it. Then I will log onto the
Playchess server and see if the upgrade they offer makes any changes to the
engine.
I tried the Query Upgrade, but it does not recognize the fact that the engine is
the old version, and does not offer any upgrade.
ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
