that was the sense of the name ! I thought it would take a little :-))

Right. And shows why Shredder almost often wins tournaments.
it is a very good tournament program.

the ssdf results are a different thing - of course.

>The other surprises, Yace and Crafty, well done.

right. these programs come very close to the commercials.

right.

yes - thank you. this made much fun.
I was often very surprised e.g. when socrates or mchess killed a big name.
this is the exciting computerchess is about.
and this is why the hobby is still alive, although most humans
get killed by computer programs, there is still a competition between the
leading (and the amateur- ) chess programs.

One reason was of course the time i had during the chrismas days, and another
factor, that should not underestimated was: in the last months i had 2
autoplayers, not 1. this increased everything.

i hope so.

this is what i would wish. that programmers and chess-players begin a fruitful
dialogue.

i hope this will increase the chess quality of the programs.

i think this will be a topic the more time happens, because
WHAT else can you increase in a modern chess program, speed ?
Search ? ok - but i think the biggest lack is WORKING chess-knowledge that
helps the program to find a plan, an idea how to build up the position.
