The only thing I do is to delete the (book?) learnfiles called Gandalf
5.0.blk.bkl and Gandalf 5.0.wht.bkl so that Gandalf does not profit from
learning in later matches. I do not believe that this is the reason for the bad
results because Gandalf creates them new.

Perhaps. I provide Gandalfs search information in the game comments. Did you
download the games and take a look at the search info?
At the moment I have the feeling that there is s.th. wrong with the autoplayer,
the hash size (200MB) or it might be the installation although I have no idea
what could have gone wrong.
