Deep Junior 7 running on a dual Athlon 1800+ sometimes does more than 2 million positions a second. I'm not claiming that it is always above this limit and I've not figured out an average as such, but 2 million won't be that far off - especially if it is rounded to the nearest million. ;-) Of course, this isn't necessarily translatable into playing strength but that is another topic... A dual 1900+ would be faster still, but by how much I'm not sure. I've heard of an Athlon 2000+ chip, but I'm not aware of it's current availability, especially for dual machines. And there are faster machines still (more CPUs, etc.)... but maybe you're making assumptions on what hardware people have at their disposal?! Anyway, for my part, 2 million sounds reasonable. It is certainly more accurate than saying that 1 million is the upper limit. Gordon
