A DLL in unix is called a shared object. The extension is *.so.

You can also make a static library (which is linked with your program) and the
extension of that is *.a

How to make a sharedobject depends on the platform and the compiler you use.
Look in your compileroptions how to make shared objects.

On SUN/Solaris it's -G.
