Before Hyatt shoots in open goal i'll say it: Some people had in the past the dream to play chess with a machine. That was when mechanics became popular, so around 1790, just before the French revolution. Late that century they discovered that this 'Turk' was fake. Took them 60 years to realize that this was not a chessplaying machine but fake. The dream however was born. Yet in 1945 after WWII computer came into picture and then suddenly we had chessplaying computers/programs. Vincent
