>Anyway, what do people think about this computers ability to achieve 2300 SSDF? > I would say the machine won't get anywhere near 2300 SSDF. Considering Mephisto's current (in production) top of the line machine, Atlanta, currently sits on 2089 SSDF (and the Atlanta is a 20Mhz RISC program), it would be quite an achievement for the new Novag to get anywhere near a 2300 SSDF rating. Somewhere between 2050 and 2150 SSDF, maybe, but definitely not 2300. I can't really see a couple of hundred ELO points being gained just from the software changes, especially when you are in competition with someone like Frans Morsch, who authored Atlanta. Like all Novags, I expect it to get a killer rating at fast chess, probably high IM class (around 2400 +). I'm not saying the program will be a disappointment - I think it will be a very good program. But I would be mighty surprised if it could topple Atlanta, which to my knowledge remains the strongest currently available dedicated machine at the time of my writing this. Lets revisit this after it has played a couple of hundred games :) My guess, low 2100's SSDF maximum - at 40 in 2.
