Under CB GUIs are running "Tiger, Junior, Hiarcs" with an own not free concept. No chance to make an other GUI compatible to this engines. Now I read that Fritz is working as UCI Engine, good ! Maybe later also Junior, Hiarcs und Tiger, so under Arena and Chess-Assistant are all this engines works fine. At the moment: This are only 3 from x other engines. Under Fritz works the most from over 120 WB engines not correct. But under: - WinBoard - Chessmaster 8000 (WB so far) - Chess Assistant 6.1 (UCI and WB) - Chess Academy (WB so far perfect) - Chess Partner (WB so far and own concept) - Arena (UCI and WB support) - Fritz on the last place (all other GUIs have a better WinBoard support. Under Chess-Base GUIs works the most engines within not correct. The GUI is not very interesting for WB user which will get correct results. Profi engines are for you and many other people interesting but not for people which can not buy every or one from this commercial programs. This group of people are the biggest group. If I saw only Hiarcs/Junior/Tiger so is Fritz standing on the first place but we have 140 or more other programs. 02. The answere is easy! - WinBoard - Chessmaster 8000 (WB so far) - Chess Assistant 6.1 (UCI and WB) - Chess Academy (WB so far perfect) - Chess Partner (WB so far and own concept) - Arena (UCI and WB support) - Fritz on the last place ! 03. Fritz on the first place (do you try swiss chess tournaments with more as 10 programs, you get a crash after round 5 (in the most cases after round 5). Fritz have the most options but not a very good implemention. The same for rating calculations. Compare Fritz with EloStat! X Options but a lot of important options with little mistakes. 04. I believe Fritz, also I believe Chess Assistant (will not start CA for this test). In the future Arena too? Arena is young and here is a one programmer working. Not all is perfect, but the GUI is from version to version better. I believe in the near future are more of this (for user from commmercial chess programs) options in Arena available. My Arena wish list: - Elo calculations ... - Tournament mode ... - A little bit more important database options ... other things ! But all this is for the moment not very important. Important ist that the engine options works fine. WB - WB perfect is a drean, WB - UCI perfect is also a dream. Here is important to find mistakes and. Later the programmer have the plan to added more options in the GUI. How long work Chess-Base on his GUI and how much programmers works in the past on this GUI. You know the answer. Arena is a private project from one person. And the programmer have a lot of fun to make here a little bit for interesting user, have fun on programming. This is important and not to compare a Freeware GUI in release version 1 with a professional GUI which is x years available in version 7. It`s fantastic if I see what the programmer from Arena make. For a privat project a fantastic GUI, better as much older commercial GUIs. Maybe you have interest on beta testing and to make a little bit for persons all over the world which can get this GUI for free. Your impressions and ideas are also important. Best Frank
