I lot of programs today rate their pieces in this manner. Pawns 100 Knights 325 Bishops 350 Rooks 500 Queens 900 and Kings 250 The king value is used for mobility and attacking strength only. If the king is in danger he has no points and for that reason many people do not give the king any points at all. Then again some give it 5000 points or some number even higher as to avoid captures, etc. Bill
