It was more of a sarcastic remark toward Microsoft than anything else. Implying that you have to be an elite programmer to work at Microsoft. In regards to the original poster, I think that there are some people who are simply very talented programmers. I think Bruce falls into this category, as others have pointed out how he created a very strong chess program in a relatively short amount of time, and people I know who have either worked at Microsoft or had interviews with them have told me that you have to be talented at what you do and love doing it. I think that reflects well on Bruce. I wasn't attempting to make any negative implications against Bruce. I wouldn't like to even speculate as to what the greatest programming minds could do with chess programming. Could take them a matter of months or a matter of weeks to create a world class program.
