Other pictures I've seen also show the more brigher white display. However, the (so-called) darker display does look more conventional and realistic with what I would expect from an LCD display. Interesting to note that the Star Sapphire will have a backlighting feature as well. In any case, the Star Sapphire is still vapor-ware. (It's been delayed many a time--will it ever come to market??????) Sure, you can place an order but I know of no one who has ever received one. Personally, I think your money would be far better spent on a Palm compatible handheld along with Chess Tiger or ChessGenius. It's much cheaper than a Star Sapphire. Not only will you have as strong a chess machine as the Star Sapphire, but it will be also able to play more than just chess.
