Of course Gandalf 5 is a strong program. There is no argument there. But relative to Fritz 7 or Chess Tiger it is about 100 points weaker maybe more. This means it still should handle any 2200 player with ease. As for being lazy, my computers played over 8,000 games last year using auto232. YOU try doing that manually. And the final LOGIC question.... Why is it that Chess Tiger plays at least equal or better than Fritz 7 when running them using auto232 and Gandalf 5 gets killed by both? This when Chess Tiger is running in the exact same GUI and using the exact same auto232. The only difference is changing the engines. Using auto232 as the scapegoat for poor program performance is nonsense. Besides, being 100 points below the top programs is not really all that poor. It's just disappointing in a new program that was expected to do much better. Jim
