If you go back through recent threads you'll get a pretty good idea which is
fastest for chess.
The AMD 2000+XP still is the fastest for chess but Intel continues to close the
gap now that they have introduced the "Northwood" core on the .13 micron process
and a L2 512KB cache which runs at 2.2Ghz and gets an additional boost in speed
by 30% over the the .18 micron process.

Fritzmarks should be about 1000 for Intel's 2.2Ghz and AMD's 2000+XP should
be about 1200 worth no more than 20 ELO most likely.

I feel depending on your needs, either the P-4 2.2Ghz or the Athlon 2000+XP at
this time are both good choices.

AMD is still fastest for chess but it's not a large difference. If you choose
Intel's new P-4 at 2.2Ghz be sure to get PC800 RDRAM, although it's more
expencive it is designed for the P-4 to get it's highest performance.

Intel will soon be releasing a 533Mgh Data Bus if I'm not mistaken giving it
even more performance.

Chess AMD but keep an eye on Intel, as their back in a chip war with AMD once
again!

Competition is great!:) Unlike M$!
