I think a while back it wasn't so bad, but with todays searchdepths it's not
recommendable. Of course your program will stil have tactics figured out quite
soon ( since you search deep ) but an evalutaion after 15ply and the root
position most likely have not very much in common.

OTOH if you can find a way to find out when they do, you might gain speed
without loosing accuracy.
