I won't go into the officiality of the title though I will say two things: at 8
games for the match, it certainly has gained a little respectability as a match,
however the 2-game matches to get there are the problem. In any case one thing I
am fairly certain of, and that is that he is the youngest player (18) to ever
pierce the 2700 barrier, and significantly so at 2727. The other problem is that
although Ivanchuk's nerves are a well-known problem, the fact that Pono was
completely outplayed in several of the games won't help his case, so I'm afraid
many will just show this as one of the flukes the new system allows.
