Subject: ChessBase 7 "On the Fly" Typical Operations

Author: Robert Henry Durrett

Date: 06:30:07 06/20/98

(1)    Komputer Korner's rec.games.chess.computer preview bulletin on ChessBase
7 makes me really want ChessBase 7
(2)    The purchase of ChessBase 7 would be a significant investment for me
since I have no income. Therefore it is important for me to know what I will be
getting.
(3)    The big question for me is:   HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE to perform
typical operations? And, what are the bread-and-butter typical operations?
(4)    Of particular interest is what can be done in real-time as in the
Kasparov - Topalov match?  In other words, if you playing in a game where
you and your opponent are both using computer software [by mutual
agreement], and you have three minutes to play your next move, how much [and
what specifically] can ChessBase 7 do for you in that scenario?  I assume
that the players are using PCs whose memory(RAM & Hard Drive) and data transfer
rates to and from the Hard Drive are such that it is possible to take full
benefit of the capabilities of ChessBase 7.
(5)    I would really appreciate responses on CCC from regular [power] users of
ChessBase regarding the above topics.
(6)The sooner the CCR report on ChessBase 7 comes out the better.
