The ELO system is a ridiculous system which only works because everyone/-thing who plays the game plays ridiculously weak. :) While 'perfect chess player' leaves no doubt about how strong he/she/it plays the game, 'a 2300 ELO chess player' doesn't mean anything w/o knowing the "compared to whom". "Having X ELO" is a relative thing, playing perfect chess is absolute. Mixing relative and absolute things leads to problems - absolutely. :) Sargon
