The problem with the HIARCS - Isichess match was not related to manual operation. A problem with the adapter that allows HIARCS to play through winboard via the auto232 protocol failed. It is still unknown if the problem was a result of the autoplayer itself or WinBoard (we could not recreate the problem, nor has the problem ever happened before out of over 40,000 online games with the same sort of setup...) -elc.
