I don't understand your problem? What's the problem using these engines? For
example Quark: I installed it like every chess program. I selected it in Chess
Assistant to use it in ICC and it played some games at ICC. No problems at all.
No need for any .ini files.

Why? There are good GUI's for winboard, for example Chess Assistant. The idea of
a free protocoll is that everybody can implement it. Some did it. So where's the
problem?
