The Emir appears to be a patient man given that he's the one forking out the
cash.

That was never demonstrated in the first place, so why would they bother
reestablishing that "fact" now?

Good question. Though not relevant to the question of this particular "Man vs.
Machine" contest. OTOH you never really know what could happen. A complete
cancellation doesn't seem impossible and then...
