Hi:
If you are really a beginner, no better software than Maurice Ashley Teaches
Chess. Is the only one that goes to the real basic issue, to create in the
student a feeling of what things each piece do before beginning to play chess.
It is entertaining and my daughters enjoyed. Then, after being acquainted with
that, Mentor 1,0 would be the very best to follow.
Books are OK, but a lot less entertainning. I suppose the very first thing a
chess student must get is a rooted feeling of deep fun as the engine for further
learning. Witout that, no way. And software gives that feeling much better than
any book.
