Subject: rules suggestions for CCT5

Author: Will Singleton

Date: 13:28:31 01/27/02

(for whoever wants to run it)

Proposed Rules for CCT5 (or other)

11 round swiss, two weekends (or)
9 round swiss, one weekend

Programs must be entered by the author. The request must state: hardware,
program name and version, ICC account name, how interfacing to ICC, and the name
of the operator.

Play must be fully automatic. All decisions pertaining to the selection of
moves, timing of moves, and draw or resign offers must be made and executed
solely by the program. Once the game has begun, the operator must not assist
the program in any way.

Program must kibitz, after each move, sufficient information to indicate
automatic operation. (Minimum requirements tbd.)

A small "donation" will be asked of each participant, in order to pay the TD and
professional commentator. (perhaps $10).

Excessive disconnections will be handled at the discretion of the TD.
The tournament organizer reserves the right to accept or decline entry.
Duplicate programs, or programs that are substantially similar are not allowed.
Programs which do not have a demonstrated record of fully automatic operation on
a chess server are not allowed.

By entering the tournament, the author (and operator, if different), agree to
the tournament rules. All decisions by the TD are final.
