He's talking about "quality".  IE not just the number of squares you
attack, but the "quality" of each of those squares as well.  I did this
in Cray Blitz and it was quite trivial with an odd "vector merge" facility
they had.  It can be done with bitmaps as well, assuming it is important to
someone to do it...

There is _nothing_ you "can't do" with bitboards...
