Hmm... I don't see it in your log in the first post. And my point was once
again.

1. receive xboard
2. receive protover 2
3. Send 'feature done=0'
4. Do all your initiating stuff.
5. Send 'feature done=1'

I did check my answer:
1.
Maybe take a look in egine-intf.html file and send 'feature done=0' after
'protover 2'. Then you could initalize your tablebase and send 'feature san=1'
and 'feature done=1' when finish.

2
You definitive have to send 'feature done=0' after protover 2

3
See my other post, you must send 'feature done=0' and then start your
initializing.

If you are afraid for not get initialized if the GUI don't support this protover
so can you stop to worry, you will never manage to be initialized. The normal
time for GUI to wait before starting a search was 2 sec. before this done=0/1,
ref. old Winboard, CA or CM, But I don't think they would send you SAN either.
And this protover command is comming right after xboard.

Frome engine-intf.html
*************
Beginning in protocol version 2 (in which N=2), this command will be sent
immediately after the "xboard" command.
*************

So just a little pause before your initialiazing shoud be ok.
With current Winboard I think you can send it when you startup without waiting
for any xboard or protover command from Winboard.

Odd Gunnar
(I didn't need to answer this because I think you got the point, but the last
line in my answer have a quick fix you could do in a minute.)
