Subject: Fritz 5.32 1533mhz mates Fritz7 1000mhz

Author: K. Burcham

Date: 11:01:19 01/29/02

as we purchase new software, and put our old software in storage,
I often wonder the strength of the old programs on new hardware.

this is the first game i played between old fritz and new fritz.
i also know this was only "one game".
i draw several conclusions.
old fritz on more mhz can beat new fritz on smaller mhz, sometime.
the game was very interesting to watch.
    both sides aggressive play.
both sides showed different main lines most of game.
both sides did not guess opponents expected move correctly, most of game.
    during game, Fritz 5.32 1350kns--1500kns 192 hash
    during game, Fritz7 400kns--500kns 192 hash
during game, Fritz7 played depths of 1 to 3 more than Fritz 5.32
even with three times more kns.

also notice at end of game, Fritz7 shows incorrect mate in x
Fritz 5.32 shows mate in x correctly

this is an example of difference in search. i am not saying Fritz 5.32 could not
have won with Fritz7 move, it seems either move would win for Fritz 5.32.
the old program would not choose new program move,
and the old program still won after 29.Nxd4.
