(like if Joel Benjamin was making / influencing the moves DB played in the match through some subterfuge). All of a sudden, IBM would be looking at millions of dollars and great publicity becoming a marketing nightmare for them, and a bonanza for their competitors. In everything I've read from the DB team, they seemed forthright and honest. As professionals, and as scientists, the very last thing they want would be "big fat liar / cheater" attached to their work and their reputations. I'm quite sure 90% of everything they said was quite true. The other 10% was misunderstood, but still true. Unfortunately, with DB's untimely demise, people like us feel cheated that this wonderful landmark has been removed from us, perhaps forever. So we lash out at DB, it's team of creators, and IBM. That's only natural, but it shouldn't lessen the accomplishments or the reputations of any of the above. I'm very glad DB was made, and actually beat G.K., and how lucky we are to be around to see it. Great stuff! My sides ache from laughing about the proposed cheating during the G.K. match. I can just imagine some GM, wearing a raincoat, hat pulled down over his face (less he be recognized), secretly flashing hand signals from the audience, into some member of the DB team, who then transfers them covertly to Hsu for entry at the terminal. All under the watchful gaze of zillions of reporters and cameras. Or Hsu entering moves he likes into the terminal, rather than DB's. (G.K. would have thrashed DB without a loss in that case.) The orchestra still plays, time to find a new dance partner. Dave
