Rebel9 found Re1xe6 in 1 second!!

Hi,

After changing the Rebel engine, to my surprise Rebel9 found Re1xe6 in 1 second!
That was how I discovered it luckily.

In the Option menu in Rebel9, click Combination on, click '9' in Selective
(Brute Force must remain unchecked), and click Solid in Playing Style. That is
all. If you have Rebel9, you can try it yourself. You can use Analyze in the
Level menu.

Here below is the result of the first three lines that Rebel9 already found very
shortly after it started calculating.

Also, with the same settings, Rebel9 calculated for more than 10 minutes and it
still did not change mind at all about the move Re1xe6!

However, with the default settings in Rebel9, it found Re1xe6 with better score
of 0.09 within 3 minutes. With the changed engine, it still did not find the
same move with the *same better score* in a bit more than 10 minutes of
calculating. Interestingly, with the changed engine, Rebel9 could find the move
with the same better score perhaps some time more than 10 minutes, but it
successfully smelled the correct move in one second without changing mind at all
about it afterwards.

I do not think that the changed engine will work effectively with all other
positions. That is why Rebel10 will have a smart feature provided for using
anti grandmaster playing style.

Lastly, You can experiment with Rebel9 in different ways and see different
results. For instance, you can try by clicking Aggressive in Playing Style in
the menu and try it. I tried Defensive in Playing Style, and Rebel9 found the
move Re1xe6 in 2 seconds! Try it yourself.

What do you think about the above?

My computer is 166MHz Pentium with MMX, 40 MB RAM, and 28 MB hashtable.

Anyway, I hope Rebel10 will do the job much better when it will release to the
market.

I wish Ed Schroder and his team of workers a good luck and success in Rebel10
when it will play against Vishy Anand on July 21 - 23.
