*SIGH* Language war again... OK, here goes:

Functional programming is the most unfit paradigm for GUI programming in
existence. OO on the other hand is a very natural fit.

OO _is_ just a tool. So are functional programming languages. And they're are
mostly fit for problems that are very clean and mathematical in their nature. No
way I'll ever develop any sort of GUI in SML or Haskell. On the other hand,
languages such as C++ or C are not suitable either, really.
