A champion is proclaimed by virtue of winning some particular contest. However, that is only weak statistical evidence that they might be the best in the world. Even an undefeated champion is not necessarily the best. For instance (from American Football), if the 17-0 superbowl champion Miami Dolphins had to play the championship game at least 1000 times[*], I am sure that they would lose at least one of them. What happens when it turns out to be the first one? [*] Somehow, we will prevent age and injury.
