Are you sure, that you checked this in the case of Yace? Yace will only learn in games started from the initial position, and not in games setup by a FEN. Perhaps this is not optimal. The idea to disable learning in setup position was to get reproducable results in Nunn type matches ... Anyway, positional learning often cannot help.
