I do not think that replacing 7002 by 7006 is similiar to replacing kasparov by kramnik. The programmer of 7002 and 7006 is the same human. I see the tournament as a tournament between humans(the programmers) and I think that allowing upgrades should be done for all programs When humans do mistake they learn and you cannot prevent kasparov to use the knowldge that he learned. When you do not let Fritz7.006 to play you prevent the programmer to use knowledge that he learned. I think upgrades should be allowed not only for Fritz but also for the other programs. Uri
