The latest version of Beowulf is now available on my web site. Get it while it's hot! http://www.ast.cam.ac.uk/~cmf/chess/beowulf.html Lots of improvements (too numerous to mention) but most importantly; (1) Fixed a few *very* bad bugs in the passed-pawn code (2) Improved strategic handling of pawns and bishops (3) Altered hash-table storage to make much more space (4) Tidied up a few bits of code (5) Added in a decent 64-Bit freeware random number generator (6) Fixed the PV printing so that Beo now prints in PGN format This version is pretty strong at long time controls, but is still rather weak at short time controls. On my machine (Athlon 1.33GHz) I'm getting about 25% of the points in matches against Crafty at 20 minutes or more. No doubt I've got something wrong so please notify me quickly if I've screwed up with the zip files. I normally do ;) The next version (2.0) will include pondering and proper winboard analysis support, if I can find the time ;) Cheers, Col
