I post on BBS groups and many boards with my real email alias. I have a nice spam filter that sends the thousands of spam mails straight to the toilet. They are deleted automatically so I don't even have to read them. Also, I live in the state of Washington, and they have strict anti-spam laws. I am registered with the state as well, as a person who does not want to receive spam. When something gets through my spam filter, it takes just a few seconds to write my own filter. In short, I don't worry about it.
