Obviously my solution wouldn't have prevented the current crisis, but this
discussion isn't just about the current crisis (although it was triggered by
it).  It is about the general issue of making email addresses public on CCC.

I was pointing out that you can make an address public, and not have to worry
too much about spambots or viruses.  This point seems to have escaped some
people.  Of course you still have the problem of malicious people who may misuse
your email address, but thankfully such people are relatively rare (I hope).
