I think that people who would use CCC's email addresses in this way are malevolent. The problem is that it is difficult for CCC moderation to police this. If someone accuses someone else of having done this, does that mean that they did it? What about false accusations? The problem is that the "crime" doesn't occur in CCC, so any evaluation of the truth of charges is difficult to conduct and involves outside sources. It is possible for malevolent people to mess with our system in order to cause damage. This has always been possible, and CCC is a high enough traffic group that this should be expected to continue. Having the addresses there allows for off-line communication, which is a good thing. That some people mis-use it is no reason to remove it. If someone is obviously misbehaving in the group, get rid of them. For those of you who are being targeted by malevolent people, the best course of action is to remain above-board yourself. If someone is calling you this, and you are calling them that, it is difficult for moderation to do anything. But if you remain calm in the face of insult, and do not do anything to goad your attacker, it is easy for moderation to put the blame on a specific individual and get rid of them. bruce
