QNX includes a Win32 shell which they claim runs Windows applications better than Windows itself. To be honest, I've never tried it. All I can say is that the QNX operating system itself is rock solid, much less buggy than any Windows version I've seen, and the graphics are a lot faster than anything Linux has to offer. QNX isn't just an embedded OS. It's configurable from embedded systems to PCs to large networks. One of the nice features of QNX is that it takes all the work of networking away from the programmer. Due to the feature of "transparent networking", QNX's operating system makes no difference between different tasks running on one PC and different tasks running on several PCs. If you write an application for one PC you can upgrade the application to distribute the processing between several PCs without changing a single line of code. The first version of QNX for PCs was released in 1982 (!) so it not only pre-dates Windows, it was around before DOS. For further information see http://www.qnx.com
