Go up one level in this thread
I have been using it for the last year and a half or so, so if it ever was gone
and then back, it was more than 1 1/2 years ago - it definitely works now. The
fact that the state doesn't save might make it feel like it doesn't work - if
you type it just once, then log back in, it will feel broken, but you just have
to type it again. I just made it part of chester's gameend macro (where it
seeks new games) = that way it is always on. And of course this only works on
(C) accounts, and in particular I believe only for exempt accounts. From ICC's
help, an exempt accout must satisfy:
1) You are the author of the chess program, or
2) Your program is automated and will play only wild chess, or
3) Your program is automated and set up to play below 1800 ICC strength.
You must also follow these rules:
1) You must maintain a non-expired human account.
2) You cannot use a free computer account for observing ICC events,
for playing games yourself, or for any activities other than
having the program play games.
3) You keep this information in the finger notes:
- ICC handle of the human owner/operator.
- Name and version number of the chess program used.
- What kind of machine it runs on.
So that certainly narrows down which accounts can use it (if I am remembering
correctly of course).
